Grape Yield Estimation

Automatic Grape Yield Estimation System

This page shows Baden Parr's PhD research. Mathew Legg was the main supervisor, obtained the funding, and managed the project.

Project Funding

Funding from Bragato Research Institute, a subsidiary of New Zealand Winegrowers, through the Rod Bonfiglioli Scholarship

Duration

2018-2021

Project Partners

Massey University (Baden Parr and Mathew Legg) and NZ Wine.

Description

Yield estimation is important in viticulture. Grape production can vary significantly between years. Estimation of yield allows growers to plan and organise, reduce costs, and optimise the price they get for their grapes. This project investigates the potential of 3D cameras and ultrasonic arrays for automated grape yield estimation.

Role in Project

Obtained funding and main PhD supervisor.
